On March 23, 2018, students, faculty, and staff gathered for the third annual MUIH Research Symposium, an event that highlights the best of the University’s research and scholarship. Two symposium awards were given and Marlysa Sullivan, M.P.T., Assistant Professor of Integrative Health Sciences at MUIH, was recognized for winning MUIH’s third annual Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award. On March 7, 2018, the Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH) Board of Trustees elected T. James (Jim) Truby, M.A. and Dr. Anne Y.F. Lin, Pharm.D. as the new Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board, respectively. Both will assume their new positions in June 2018. Read more

Nature is constant only in its harmonious balance of Yin and Yang and the cycle of the seasons.i Shinrin-yoku or “forest bathing’ is a term first used by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheriesii and is really just a concise wording for “getting back to nature,” “going to the woods,” or taking some time in the wilderness. We are writing today in response to the federal government shutdown that began on Friday at midnight. Although we know that this can have a significant impact on the daily lives of people, especially living in the DC, Maryland and Virginia region, the impact on higher education is expected to be very limited, unless the shutdown drags on. We understand that both Congress and the Senate worked over the weekend, and are continuing to work to resolve this impasse as soon as possible. Read more

It is with great sadness I inform you that James A. “Jim” Duke, Ph.D., passed away at his home Sunday evening at the age of 88. Jim was a much-loved and valued member of the MUIH community. He had served as a distinguished herbal lecturer with MUIH, and provided rare, enriching, and unforgettable learning experiences for students at his Green Farmacy Garden. Read more
