We are writing today in response to the federal government shutdown that began on Friday at midnight. Although we know that this can have a significant impact on the daily lives of people, especially living in the DC, Maryland and Virginia region, the impact on higher education is expected to be very limited, unless the shutdown drags on. We understand that both Congress and the Senate worked over the weekend, and are continuing to work to resolve this impasse as soon as possible. Read more

It is with great sadness I inform you that James A. “Jim” Duke, Ph.D., passed away at his home Sunday evening at the age of 88. Jim was a much-loved and valued member of the MUIH community. He had served as a distinguished herbal lecturer with MUIH, and provided rare, enriching, and unforgettable learning experiences for students at his Green Farmacy Garden. Read more

Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH), a national leader in the education and practice of natural medicine, is proud to announce during Naturopathic Medicine Week that it is now accepting applications for its first class of naturopathic medical students to begin in Fall 2018. As the fifth annual Naturopathic Medicine Week kicks off (Oct. 8-14), Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH), a national leader in the education and practice of natural medicine, announces the expansion of services at its Natural Care Center with the addition of naturopathic doctor, Autumn Frandsen, N.D., as a clinical associate. Dr. Frandsen, a licensed naturopathic doctor, brings expertise in nutrition, physical medicine, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, and botanical medicine to the surrounding community, offering more opportunities for residents to access this holistic form of patient-centered care. On September 20, 2017, MUIH will kick off our “Plan. Cultivate. Grow.” 2017 Annual Fundraising Campaign to help support the advancement of our university – today and for many years to come. This year, we are establishing an endowment that will serve as an ongoing source of funding for the Help for Healing program and protect its future. Help for Healing offers discounted services in the Natural Care Center to patients and clients who may not be able to afford care otherwise. Your contribution will also support our students in completing their clinical requirements. Read more
