Tai Sophia Institute Will Become Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH)

Mon. February 11, 2013

We are tremendously proud and very excited to announce that our institution has achieved university status through the Maryland Higher Education Commission. As part of this evolution and to create increased clarity and credibility, our name will change to Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH). Both changes will become effective on March 1, 2013.

“This designation validates our academic excellence and is a significant milestone,” says Frank Vitale, president and chief executive officer. “In achieving university status, we strongly feel that Maryland University of Integrative Health is on its way to becoming the preeminent institution in this country in the field of integrative health.”

The goal of becoming a university has been expressed since the institution’s earliest days and we remain committed to the core principles and philosophies that have guided us for more than 35 years. “People from across the country are drawn to our institution’s educational programs and clinics not only because of academic rigor and clinical competence, but also because of our relationship-centered, whole person approach to education, health, and wellness,” says Dr. Judi Broida, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs.

Although the changes become effective March 1, there will be a transition period to update the website, signage, and other materials and processes. This will be completed in early May, when we will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony that will officially mark the end of the transition and the beginning of boldly pursuing our future!

Learn more about what this transition means for our community by visiting our website, where you’ll find FAQs, our official press release and press coverage, photos of our announcement event, and more. “Now is the accepted time, not tomorrow, not some more convenient season. It is today that our best work can be done and not some future day or future year. It is today that we fit ourselves for the greater usefulness of tomorrow.”
