Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH) and The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), a non-profit organization advancing Functional Medicine as the standard of care for all patients, have announced a new collaboration. The agreement allows certified IFM practitioners an opportunity to earn up to nine credits of advanced standing in MUIH’s Doctor of Clinical Nutrition program. Read more

Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH) and the American Herbalists Guild (AHG), a member-based association of herbal practitioners, have joined forces to educate students studying clinical herbalism. Both organizations believe that this agreement that has the potential to advance the education and practice of herbal medicine in the nation. The articulation agreement allows MUIH students in the master’s degree to earn clinical hours by enrolling in the AHG Supervisory Mentoring Program Read more

Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH) and University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health (UM UCH) are joining forces to bring integrative health services to individuals receiving care at UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. The agreement offers MUIH graduate student interns the opportunity to collaborate with health providers at UM UCH to offer an integrative medical model, while offering a wide range of natural approaches to health and healing to the UM UCH community. This fall, MUIH graduated the most recent class from the Animal Acupuncture Certification program. As more and more people are experiencing the healing possibilities of Chinese medicine, it’s natural that they are now seeking the same treatment for their animal companions. The class participants, all licensed acupuncturists, were eager to fill this growing need. Read more

Beginning with the January 2016 intake, Maryland University of Integrative Health is offering a newly redesigned curriculum for our acupuncture and Oriental medicine programs. Our faculty redesigned the programs considering trends in integrative health, current research available in the field of acupuncture and Oriental medicine, performance on the national exam, and the educational components needed to build a successful and meaningful career post- graduation. Throughout the process, they strongly considered the suggestions and requests of alumni and senior students. Read more

As MUIH grows its programs and secures its leadership in the field of integrative health, more and more opportunities for collaboration are being realized. Starting immediately, MUIH and Georgetown University Medical Center have established a shared commitment to strengthening the relationship between conventional and complementary healthcare professions and educational institutions. The agreement commits to shared faculty, mutual support for common and independent initiatives, and preferred admissions and advanced standing for graduates of each university into academic programs of the other. MUIH’s Herbal Dispensary received a grant in June from Emerson Ecologics to help develop a Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) requirements training program and to support the development of quality assurance programs for new herbalists and small herbal supplement companies. Read more

On June 8 at 7 p.m., Maryland University of Integrative Health held the 2015 Commencement. On this day, 258 new healers celebrated their graduation and prepared to enter the world of health and wellness. In total, 178 master’s degrees were conferred and there were 80 graduates of academic certificate programs. Read more
