Herbs are something that intrigues you. Whether it is using herbs to enhance the taste of food or to support health and well-being – you have a passion for herbs and want to learn more.
At Maryland University of Integrative Health, we want to help you take that passion a step further. Whether you are interested in health and wellness, horticulture and gardening, culinary arts, nutrition, educating the public or want to live a more environmentally friendly and sustainable lifestyle – our certificate program in Herbal Studies can help you do just that. As a student, you’ll explore the potential of medicinal plants. You will engage all five senses while diving deeper into the benefits of herbs with each class you take.
Experience this program in two different formats, hybrid and online, to develop foundational knowledge and skills in herbal medicine. Students gain knowledge through practical experiences in an experiential learning program that offers unique opportunities through MUIH’s herbal dispensary and garden.
MUIH offers six programs that focus on the medicinal use of herbs. In all of these, plants are used as a primary therapeutic and health promotion tool.
“I love the versatility of herbs. They allow me to provide a means to help people that the biomedical system might overlook. Herbs come in endless variety, with combinations of chemical compounds only dreamt about in the lab.“
