This highly experiential and customized program provides 1-hour sessions of individualized 1:1 mentoring from experienced certified yoga therapists (C-IAYT) and 90 minutes of group mentoring monthly for participants. This program is exclusively designed for recent graduates of accredited yoga therapy programs to provide personalized mentorship in both business and clinical skills to foster fulfilling and successful careers. Additionally, for those that complete the required program components, 15 IAYT CEUs are available as an Approved Professional Development Program (APD).

Program Description


The PCE Post-Graduate Yoga Therapy Professional Mentorship Experience consists of both individual and group mentoring for recent graduates of accredited yoga therapy programs. This 6-month program will begin in October and run through March. The program is facilitated conveniently online with virtual synchronous 1:1 and group mentoring sessions. Additional content and connection opportunities are provided in the online learning platform to add value and further enhance the learning experience.

Monthly 60-min. individual mentoring sessions will be self-directed by the mentees to gain personalized guidance on clinical and business skills to build a successful yoga therapy practice. Goals for the mentorship will be established between the mentor and mentee related to career and personal development.

Group mentoring will be facilitated for 90 minutes once monthly for additional collaboration and support. During the group sessions, Mentees will be asked to present a deidentified client at least once during the mentoring course. Additional topics will be self-directed by the group and can include client management and business development.

Expert guest speakers and wealth of supplementary resources will further enhance the mentorship experience.

Learning Objectives


As a result of this program, learners will be able to:

  • Identify areas in the professional yoga therapy practice for support in the mentoring program.
  • Discuss strategies and tools with support of their mentor and peers around their clinical skill and/or yoga therapy business in the areas that they have identified as area of requested support.
  • Develop strategies to implement recommended clinical and business skills in the areas that they have identified as area of requested support.
  • Design and present a clinical case study to their peers and mentor for feedback.
  • Provide feedback to the mentees on clinical case presentations
  • Evaluate progress toward their self-identified goals for the mentoring program.

General Program Outline


Program will begin in Oct and run through the end of March. Mentoring sessions and group times will be decided upon mutually agreeable times of the group or the mentee/mentor.

Who should participate


MUIH Yoga Therapy Alumni and graduates of IAYT accredited Yoga Therapy programs.

Pre-requisites & Required Experience


Successful completion of and graduation from the MUIH Yoga Therapy program or graduation from an IAYT accredited Yoga Therapy program.

Estimated Time/Effort


The 6-month program is comprised of the following components: One synchronous 1:1 60-minute virtual individual mentoring session monthly; and one synchronous 90-minute group virtual mentoring session monthly; and monthly online business discussion boards within the online classroom for ongoing engagement and support. To earn a Certificate and CEUs, attendance in individual and group sessions, completion of one client case study presentation, a self-reflection assignment and post-course evaluation are required.

We encourage active participation in the virtual mentoring sessions and engagement in the online course components to gain the most from the mentoring experience.

Note: For confidentiality purposes, individual and group mentoring sessions are not recorded. Faculty mentors will poll participants at the beginning of the program for consensus on scheduling individual and group virtual mentoring session days/times. Faculty mentors are assigned to small groups of mentees to ensure ample attention and support for each mentee participant.

This program is NOT eligible for federal financial aid or the PCE MUIH Community Benefit Program. MUIH Alumni must enroll with a NON-MUIH.edu email and pay the discounted Alumni tuition rate.

Program Access

Learners will have access to the Canvas Classroom between the start/end dates of the 6-month program cohort.

Withdraw and Refund Policy Terms

If withdraw is requested in the first 15 days of the program start date, 75% tuition to be refunded: no refunds after 15 days.All withdraws and refunds must be requested in writing to the Office of Professional and Continuing Education . Program withdraws and refunds are confirmed via the official PCE Withdraw Form.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

This program is pending approval for 15 IAYT APD units. In addition to MUIH CEUs awarded, various other professional organizations and boards may accept this offering for continuing education requirements. Please verify eligibility with your respective relevant professional organization and email with questions.The following components are necessary requirements to receive a Certificate of Completion and CEUs:

  • Course attendance in individual and groups sessions is mandatory for IAYT ADP credit (15 total hours available to be awarded)
  • Completion of a Case Study Presentation
  • Self-Reflection and Professional Goals Action Plan
  • Post-Course Evaluation

Cancellations

A minimum of 4 participants is required to proceed with the cohort.  If the minimum participation is not met by the cohort start date, previously registered individuals will be notified and refunded in full.
