Health & Wellness Coaching

At the cutting edge of the wellness revolution, health and wellness coaching is recognized as an integral component to creating and sustaining health. Maryland University of Integrative Health is among the pioneers setting industry standards for this top career field.

Health and wellness coaching is a skill set that empowers people to tap into their own inner source of motivation to restore and preserve health and well-being. As a health and wellness coaching student, you will learn the best research-based practices in coaching and gain proficiency in the following essential competencies:

  • Building rapport to inspire positive change
  • Assessing client readiness to make changes
  • Helping clients clarify personal health and wellness goals
  • Guiding people in health maintenance activities
  • Managing progress and accountability to help clients achieve goals

Unique to MUIH’s health and wellness coaching philosophy, and an essential component of the curriculum, is teaching people to be aware of the body’s innate wisdom and to regard symptoms and struggles as teachers. Other distinctive program features include an integrative approach to wellness and healing, a focus on whole-person care, and a model that emphasizes prevention. Our coaching courses can prepare graduates to become National Consortium for Credentialing Health and Wellness Coaches (NCCHWC) certified health and wellness coaches and International Coach Federation (ICF) certified coaches, depending on format.

At a time when the nation is struggling with obesity and chronic illness, health and wellness coaching is an evidenced-based approach to restoring and maintaining health. As a graduate of either of these academic programs, you will be prepared with the skills and expertise to empower people to take charge of their own health and create sustainable change.
