Career Preparation in the Curriculum and Programs

Career preparation skills and knowledge are built into each MUIH program, in addition to the skills and knowledge specific to each academic discipline.

Clinical, Internship, Practicum, and Field Experience Placements

MUIH offers course formats that provide students with the opportunity to hone their skills and work alongside seasoned professionals through clinical and experiential placements in MUIH’s Natural Care Center and Herbal Dispensary, at the Jim Duke Farm, and off-campus clinical, internship, and practicum placements that align with students’ program and individual interests.

Practice Management Courses

Each program includes a set of practice management courses which serve to develop the skills and strategies necessary to:

  • Plan, manage, promote, protect, build, and maintain a successful and safe holistic and integrative healthcare practice.
  • Collaborate with other professionals in integrative healthcare delivery models.
  • Navigate the ethical, legal, and regulatory environment, and make informed decisions.

Such skills and knowledge are embedded in the programs’ courses, and are described further in the  Academic Catalog.

Student Community Sites

Each program maintains an online Student Community Site for its students, maintained in the Canvas learning management system. These sites contain pre-professional opportunities for students, and a comprehensive set of resources specific to the profession including credentialing and licensure information and exam prep, standards, associations and organizations, and networking.
