2022 Research Symposium

On April 8, 2022 students, faculty, alumni and staff gathered for the sixth annual MUIH Research Symposium, an event that highlights the best of the University’s research and scholarship. Heidi Most , D.Ac., L.Ac., Dipl.Ac was awarded MUIH’s fifth annual Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award and presented her team’s research during the webinar.

The 2022 MUIH Research Symposium will be entirely online with both live and asynchronous components.

2021 Research Symposium

On April 9, 2021 students, faculty, alumni and staff gathered for the fifth annual MUIH Research Symposium, an event that highlights the best of the University’s research and scholarship.  Katherine Smith, MPH, NBC-HWC, ACC was awarded MUIH’s fifth annual Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award and presented her team’s research during the webinar.

2020 Research Symposium

The live event on zoom happened on April 10th , 2020 highlighting the best of the University’s research and scholarship for the year.  Dr. Liz Lipsky was awarded MUIH’s fourth annual Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award.  You can watch the presentation of her research, A Trip Through Digestive Wellness, editions 1-5:  Personal & Professional Growth, on the MUIH Youtube channel.

The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Raymond Teets, faculty and director of integrative medicine at the Mount Sinai Downtown Residency in Urban Family Medicine and Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.  His keynote address can be found on the MUIH Youtube channel.

Dr. Steffany Moonaz, C-IAYT, MUIH’s Director of Academic and Clinical Research also shared updates of research and scholarship at MUIH for 2020. 

This year’s Award Winners were:

  • Faculty Research Poster Award:  Steffany Moonaz, Daryl Nault, Holger Cramer, Lesley Ward
  • Development of international yoga reporting guidelines – CLARIFY
  • Student Research Poster Award:  Demetrice Morrison, Doctor of Clinical Nutrition program
    •  Personalized Nutrition and High Dose Vitamin D3 for HIV-infected Teen with Chronic Hypovitaminosis D: A Case Report.

2019 Reseach Symposium

On April 5, 2019, students, faculty, and staff gathered for the fourth annual MUIH Research Symposium, an event that highlights the best of the University’s research and scholarship. Two poster presentation awards were given and Dr. Elizabeth Ahmann, Assistant Professor of Health and Wellness Coaching at MUIH, was recognized for winning MUIH’s fourth annual Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award. 2018 Reseach Symposium

On March 23, 2018, students, faculty, and staff gathered for the third annual MUIH Research Symposium, an event that highlights the best of the University’s research and scholarship. Two symposium awards were given and Marlysa Sullivan, M.P.T., Assistant Professor of Integrative Health Sciences at MUIH, was recognized for winning MUIH’s third annual Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award. The center-piece of the event was a poster session displaying recent research from the MUIH community. Students, faculty, and alumni submitted abstracts and were chosen to present through a peer-review process. Read more.

2017 Research Symposium

On March 24, 2017, students, faculty, and staff gathered for the second annual MUIH Research Symposium. Two symposium awards were given and Dr. Michael Tims, Academic Director of Herbal Programs at MUIH, was recognized for winning MUIH’s second annual Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award. Dr. Belinda Anderson, Associate Clinical Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Einstein, NY) and Academic Dean at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM-NY), presented the keynote address, titled “Evidence-Based Medicine and the Chinese Medicine Profession: An Exploration of Attitudes and Beliefs in Relation to Education and Cultural Change.” Read more, download slides, and watch videos here.

On March 11, students, faculty, and staff gathered for the annual event. Two symposium awards were given and Dr. Steffany Moonaz was recognized for winning MUIH’s first annual Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award. Dr. Clifton Bingham, Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of the Johns Hopkins Arthritis Center, presented the keynote address and Professor James Snow gave an update on the University’s key research initiatives.
