Battling Burnout & Building Resilience: Practical Strategies to Cultivate Wellbeing in the Workplace


In late 2020, a survey of over 1,100 healthcare workers by Mental Health America found that 93% of healthcare workers were experiencing stress, 86% reported experiencing anxiety, 77% reported frustration, 76% reported exhaustion and burnout, and 75% said they were overwhelmed.

According to the Mental Health America 2021 Workplace Health Report, most employees are experiencing the early signs of burnout. Nearly 83 percent of respondents felt emotionally drained from their work.

As a result, complementary and integrative health, and healthcare providers along with individuals, leaders and organizations need to find new models for effectively addressing resilience and well-being.

Program Description

A global pandemic, prolonged remote work and learning, a struggling economy, a tense sociopolitical environment, and increasing mental health challenges as a result of this unpresented situation and associated uncertainty have created an environment that is rife for stress and burnout, ultimately leading to lack of productivity and negative health effects. This interactive workshop will explore the impact of stress and burnout from a practical lens, with an emphasis on effective steps we can take as individuals and organizations to move forward in a positive trajectory. Participants will discover simple strategies to employ in everyday life to more easily manage stress while building resiliency, emphasizing a holistic perspective to cultivating individual and collective well-being.   • Recognize signs of burnout and the health and workplace-related implications of chronic stress
  • Discover simple strategies to effectively manage stress and to optimize productivity
  • Identify opportunities to build skills and healthy behaviors for enhanced wellbeing

  • Develop a personalized wellness plan to apply approaches into daily life

  • Group health and wellness coaching sessions may be added to further customize and apply content for positive behavior change
