6 Step Process
The process of applying for financial aid at MUIH is simple.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required to apply for financial aid using our school code: G25784
Step 1 – FAFSA
New and continuing students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA application at least 6 weeks prior to the start of classes each year. A new FAFSA becomes available on October 1st of each year.
- Maryland residents can apply for state scholarships by completing the FAFSA application no later than March 1st. For more information and to apply MDCAPS
Step 2 – Scholarships
If you are interested in applying for a MUIH scholarship, please visit MUIH Scholarships to submit the application.
Fall Scholarships: Deadline August 1st
Spring Scholarship: Deadline December 1st
Step 3 – Notification
The Financial Aid Office sends out all notifications electronically through MUIH email. It is critically important that new and continuing students actively monitor their MUIH email account to avoid a delay in processing financial aid.
Financial Aid Notification
Once the student is accepted to MUIH, a notification will be sent to their MUIH email address. Additional time will be required for applications that are flagged or require verification.
Financial Aid Offer
Student must log into the Data Portal and navigate to My Financial Aid to view and make decision regarding the financial aid offer.
Step 4 – Registration & Enrollment
All students must register before 11:59 pm on Thursday of the first week of each trimester.
Enrollment status for financial aid:
Half time = 3 – 5.75 credits, per trimester
Full-time = 6 credits or more, per trimester
Step 5 – Disbursement
The Financial Aid Office will begin disbursing funds to the school account 3-6 weeks after the first day of the first class of the trimester. Subsequent disbursements are made on a weekly basis. Financial aid will be disbursed for eligible students once they:
- Complete the current FAFSA and no further verification is needed
- Enroll at least half-time (3 credits)
- Accept the financial aid offer online on the My Financial Aid page in the Data Portal
- Meet SAP requirements
- Complete the Entrance Counseling, Master Promissory Note and Annual Student Loan Acknowledgement (New Students Only)
- Must be actively participated in your course(s)
