Overview
Dr. Tyson has over 10 years of practice as an Acupuncturist and more than 30 years experience in Health Services Administration with focus on Finance, Health Planning and Information Technology working in a variety of health care and commercial business settings and teaching on the graduate level of the Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Program.
Professional Narrative
Dr. Tyson is a licensed Acupuncturist, Chinese Herbal Medicine practitioner and Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist. She is also President of the Maryland Acupuncture Society and serves as a Board member of the IRB of Medstar Research Institute. Prior to starting her career as an acupuncturist, Dr. Tyson spent over 30 years in Health Adminstration and Finance working in various organizations including Johns Hopkins Health, Howard University Hospital, NY Health and Hospital Administration, Maryland Department of Health and major consulting firms. Dr. Tyson also has prior clinical experience as a Cardiac Monitor Tech, EKG Tech with Washington Hospital Center, and Research Assistant at University of Pennsylvannia. Dr. Tyson is adjunct faculty and clinic supervisor at the Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH).
Dr. Tyson is a graduate of MUIH, where she earned her Master of Acupuncture Degree, Master of Oriental Medicine Degree and Doctor of Oriental Medicine degree. Before attending MUIH, Dr. Tyson earned her Master of Business Administration in Health Services Administration and Finance at Howard University located in Washington, DC and her Bachelor of Science in Biology at American University located in Washington, DC.
Dr. Tyson is the co-owner of an Integrative Health group practice, Advanced Integrative Health Group, located in Gambrills, MD.
