Overview

Denyse is a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and one of the first in the nation to receive her Master of Science degree in this field. She is registered with Yoga Alliance (ERYT 500) and is a provider of continuing education (YACEP). She has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels and supervised students in the NCC and HCGH.

Professional Narrative

She has more than 35 years as a Certified Fitness Professional both as a business owner and at corporate levels. In addition to teaching at MUIH, Denyse owns and operates Virginia Yoga Therapy. Her areas of interest are stress management, post-concussion recovery and healthy lifestyle management.

She is the creator of the Zen Zone Yoga Teacher Training Program providing clients relief from chronic pain and stress related conditions using the tools of yoga therapy.

Personal Narrative

Her certifications include: NASM Personal Trainer, NASM Fitness Nutrition Specialist, ACE Functional Training Specialist, Ayurvedic Lifestyle Coach, Warrior 140 hours Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher, Relax and Renew Trainer, ACE Group Fitness Instructor and Reiki Master from the Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage.

She loves sharing her passion of yoga and a healthy lifestyle and is grateful for the opportunity to never stop learning. She and her husband live in the Richmond, VA area. In her spare time, she enjoys are walking her dog Kody, stand up paddle board, jet ski, traveling and reading. Her goals this year are to get back to riding horses and learning Italian!
