At MUIH, we hold interconnection as a strong principle of integrative health, and it can be a great tool to help you regain focus and align your beliefs with your goals. Practicing interconnection can be done every day in activities that you probably already do. Here are a few practices that can help you get started in developing more interconnection in your daily life.
You can start your exploration in interconnection with a simple breathing exercise. Begin by focusing on your breath and recognizing all the other breathing beings that inhale and exhale the same air. As you inhale, you may remember people from the past with whom you used to feel connected. As you exhale, you may think of sending love to those currently in your life.
Another great way to feel interconnection is to take notice of the similarities between ourselves and the natural world that surrounds us. This is a great thing to do during a nature walk. As you walk, pay attention to your surroundings. Take notice of nature’s transformation through the seasons as it prepares for different weather patterns – much in the same way we begin to change our routines and clothes to move through transitional times.
Lastly, simply taking a moment to express gratitude for people, nature, and other things that surround us can be another great way to feel interconnection. There are lots of other ways to invite this principle into your life so feel free to explore more.
Interconnection allows us to see the bigger picture of our lives so that we walk with less stressful and more purposeful steps.
