In March 2020, MUIH established a new initiative named Building Community Across the Distance to fulfill a long-standing goal of providing opportunities for students to meaningfully engage in ways that are aligned with our University’s values and foundational principles.
The Building Community Across the Distance initiative is designed to foster a sense of belonging while supporting the resilience and well-being of our MUIH community.
Events offered through this initiative have included wellness yoga, herbal kitchen remedies, acupressure, tai chi, vision boards, academic success strategies, healthcare disparities discussion, kitchen talk, student support groups, career networking opportunities, and more.
All events are offered virtually via Zoom. All students, faculty, and staff are automatically granted access to a Microsoft Teams group named “Building Community Across the Distance” where events can be accessed through the calendar, and recordings of several sessions can be viewed at any time. Alumni who are interested in joining this group can request access by e-mailing .
