Commencement

Graduating from college is a significant milestone. Commencement is a time for graduates, family, guests, and the university community to celebrate this accomplishment. It is important to note that graduation and commencement involve the work of several offices. Therefore, if you have questions about who to contact, please refer to the Graduation Application Instructions in the data portal. 

The university has one Commencement ceremony in May of each year. Commencement for 2021 will be held on Sunday, June 27 from 2-4pm.  Graduates can find comprehensive information regarding commencement at https://commencement.muih.edu/

Graduation and Diploma Application Deadlines

In order to have your degree or certificate conferred by MUIH, you must submit a graduation application via the Data Portal by the application deadline. 

The Graduation Application Instructions, can be found in the student data portal under “Graduation Applications and Transcripts”. This comprehensive document will walk students through the process of what to expect as graduation nears. Students are encouraged to consult with their academic advisor regarding any questions about degree requirements.

Graduation Fee: 

Candidates for all MUIH credentials including doctoral, master’s degrees and certificates will be assessed a $75 graduation fee. The fee covers administrative costs associated with completing the graduation review and diploma preparation. The fee is required regardless of whether or not you officially apply for graduation or participate in the commencement ceremony. 

Students completing multiple degrees within the same trimester will only be charged one $75 fee. Students who complete multiple degrees over the course of different trimesters will be charged the $75 fee in the trimester in which each credential is earned.

Degree Conferral Date:

 A degree is conferred when a final degree audit is conducted which verifies all degree requirements have been successfully met. There is one degree conferral date per trimester. The conferral date is reflected on the academic transcript and diploma As soon as a degree is conferred the transcript can be used as credential evidence for prospective employers and schools, etc. Visit the Academic Calendar to find out the current trimester degree conferral date.
