Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MUIH has decided to cancel its 2020 University Celebration and Commencement ceremonies on the weekend of May 16-17.

We know that Commencement is the culmination of students’ hard work, perseverance, and dedication. It is also a time of joy for graduates and their family and friends, and we have not made this decision lightly. Given the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on large gatherings and travel related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made this decision out of an abundance of caution with the health and safety of our community members and their families as a top priority.

The Commencement Committee is already working on plans for alternative celebrations to occur online to honor our graduates and both student and faculty awardees. We will provide those details as they become available and hope that you will participate. Additional details will be distributed to the MUIH community and posted on the Commencement website (https://commencement.muih.edu) as they become available.

Graduates will have the opportunity to return their unused regalia with a refund. Directions will be emailed to graduates.

Spring graduates will receive their diplomas in the mail 8-10 weeks after the end of the spring trimester.

Graduates who would have participated in the 2020 ceremonies are welcome to participate in the 2021 University Celebration and Commencement ceremonies, scheduled for May 15-16, 2021. Graduates will be contacted as details about this ceremony become available.

Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH) confers degrees in April, August, and December, with one formal Commencement ceremony in May. Click here to visit the official Commencement website.

Walkthrough Procedure

A student who wishes to attend the annual MUIH commencement ceremony, but who will not have completed all degree or certificate requirements by that time, must do the following to be considered a “walkthrough”:

  • Complete the commencement application and request permission to walk by filling in the section entitled “Graduation Status.” They will be approved by the Registrar or Associate Registrar, who will verify that they have met the following criteria:
    • They are a masters or doctoral student who is within six credits of completing program requirements, as of the first day of the summer 2017 trimester
    • They are a certificate student who is within three credits of completing program requirements, as of the first day of the summer 2017 trimester

Outstanding non-credit program requirements will not be factored into this review, and will not hold students back from participation in commencement. Any requirements of this nature must be fulfilled prior to receiving a conferred degree, official transcript, or any other form of official acknowledgement regarding degree completion from MUIH.

The University allows students the opportunity to walk during commencement, under the guidelines listed above. A walkthrough is not considered a degree candidate, and will not receive a diploma, nor conferred degree transcript, until all program requirements and any other outstanding issues have been settled. Furthermore, any and all holds/debts with the University must be settled before students are officially provided the aforementioned documentation of completion.

All students must still complete an Application for Graduation upon completion of all program requirements.
