The Maryland University of Integrative Health Nutrition Post-Graduate Practice Experience provides up to 1000 hours of remote CNS-Approved Supervision for practice experience in the field of nutrition for graduates of the Master of Science in Nutrition and Integrative Health and the Post-Masters Certificate in Nutrition and Integrative Health from Maryland University of Integrative Health.
This experience is specifically designed to prepare MUIH nutrition alumni pursuing the Certified Nutrition Specialist® (CNS®) credential. The Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists℠ (BCNS℠) requires 1000 hours of documented supervised nutrition practice experience, along with the successful completion of the CNS examination to attain the CNS credential. According to the BCNS℠, the objective of the CNS credential is to demonstrate that the individual has the advanced knowledge and clinical experience suited for the practice of science-based clinical nutrition. Participation in the Nutrition Post-Graduate Practice Experience does not guarantee certification as a CNS® practitioner.
The Nutrition Post-Graduate Practice Experience will not be offered in January 2023. During this time, the Department of Professional and Continuing Education (PCE) in collaboration with the Nutrition Department will be working to enhance and improve programming with a sustainable and accessible nutrition practice experience telehealth model. These efforts will develop a model for the future that broadens access for our nutrition alumni across the country and internationally. Updates regarding the new Nutrition Supervised Practice Experience (NSPE) program will be available on this webpage when it is ready for enrollment.
Please contact with your name and personal email if you want to be added to a notification list for when details about the new PCE NSPE program are available. To learn more about the Supervised Practice Experience requirements for CNS certification, go to https://theana.org/certify/SPE.
