Carissa Hernandez, MLIS, is an information professional with over 20 years of experience in library and information science in academic libraries.

Professional Narrative

Carissa's professional focus has been on cataloging and metadata management, serials and electronic resource management, and library administration. In addition to serving as the Director of the Library at MUIH, Carissa is also the instructor for MUIH550, Academic Research and Scholarship. Her past work has included experience in a broad range of academic library activities including acquisitions, circulation, teaching and training, cataloging, serials, and electronic resource management. She is a member of the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, Reference and User Services Association, and Core: the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services, the Library Information Technology Association, and the Library Leadership and Management Association. Carissa participates in numerous sections and interest groups, including College Libraries, Distance and Online Learning, Academic Library Services for Graduate Students, and Health Sciences.
