2024 Graduation Application Instructions and Information

Application Dates

  • Summer 2024 Graduation Application Dates: Apply by Wednesday, June 5th, 2024
  • Fall 2024 Graduation Application Dates: Apply by Wednesday, October 9th 2024

The completion of a Graduation Application does not guarantee that you will graduate. A degree audit will be completed by your academic advisor to determine your eligibility.

Steps to Apply

Step 1: Apply

Log into the Data Portal under “My Graduation Applications and Transcripts.” Select the program that you are applying for and click “Apply.”

Step 2: Finance

There is a mandatory $75 graduation fee that must be paid to the Business Office. You can pay by credit card using the “Make a Payment” link on Self Service (self.ndm.edu).  We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit cards. A 2.95% fee is added for credit card payments. Contact or 410-532-5440 for questions.

Step 3: Financial Aid Exit Interview

If you have used financial aid while at MUIH, you will need to complete your exit counseling at https://studentaid.gov/exit-counseling/. Once you have completed your exit counseling, email the confirmation to the Office of Financial Aid () to notify the financial aid office of your completion. If you did not receive financial aid during your time here you don’t need to do anything.

The library will review and sign applications if your library account has a zero balance. Library materials can be returned at the Library Desk, the interior or exterior Book/Media Return. Library fines can be paid at the Library Desk or by phone 443-906-5782.

FAQs

What is my graduation date?

The graduation date is also commonly referred to as a degree conferral date. This is the date which will be on your official transcript. You can find the degree conferral date for this trimester on the academic calendar.

When is commencement?

Will I have access to my e-mail after graduation?

Yes. Your MUIH e-mail account will never expire.

Will I keep access to my Canvas course materials after graduation?

No. Access to Canvas will be cut-off upon degree conferral.

Will I still be able to log into the Data Portal, Office 365 or Zoom after graduation?

No. You will lose access to the data portal, Office 365 and Zoom immediately upon degree conferral unless you are enrolled in another program.

When will I receive my diploma?

Diplomas are mailed 6-8 weeks after graduation. Remember to fill out the Diploma Application listed on Step 2.

Degree Conferral and Graduation Fees Explained

Degree Conferral

A degree is conferred when a final degree audit is conducted which verifies all degree requirements have been successfully met. There is one degree conferral date per trimester. The conferral date is reflected on the academic transcript and diploma As soon as a degree is conferred the transcript can be used as credential evidence for prospective employers and schools, etc. Visit the Academic Calendar to find out the current trimester degree conferral date.

Graduation Fee

Candidates for all MUIH credentials including doctoral, master’s degrees and certificates will be assessed a $75 graduation fee. The fee covers administrative costs associated with completing the graduation review and diploma preparation. The fee is required regardless of whether or not you officially apply for graduation or participate in the commencement ceremony. Failure to pay the fee will result in a financial hold.

Students completing multiple degrees within the same trimester will only be charged one $75 fee. Students who complete multiple degrees over the course of different trimesters will be charged the $75 fee in the trimester in which each credential is earned.

Commencement vs. Graduation

Graduation (degree conferral) occurs when students successfully complete the requirements of a degree program. Students should reference the Graduation Application Instructions in the Data Portal for further information.

Commencement is an optional ceremony held once a year in May celebrating the graduation of MUIH students. Graduates attending commencement are responsible for purchasing their regalia for the ceremony. Commencement information can be found at: https://commencement.muih.edu/
