What drew you to MUIH?
I was drawn to MUIH for the new and innovative Master of Science in Yoga Therapy. I was also seeking a program that was accredited.
What excites you about your academic field?
I am excited that not only is it yoga but that it is cutting edge and the first of its kind. I love that the program teaches this ancient healing art with current scientific evidence. I feel so fortunate to have found a program that it is academically rigorous, interesting, applicable and so enjoyable.
Has there been a course you’ve particularly enjoyed?
Honestly, I have loved every class! They have been intellectually stimulating and have pushed me to grow personally, professionally and academically.
Can you speak about the faculty here?
The faculty at MUIH is amazing, brilliant, compassionate and kind. They are completely engaged and motivated to provide excellent education in a safe and supportive environment.
What’s your best MUIH memory?
There are too many to choose from! I am building memories each weekend that I fly in for classes. My cohort has become my family away from home. Together we have enjoyed group chanting, meditations outside, a puja ceremony, stimulating discussions about yoga philosophy, and some provocative ethic debates to name a few. We have also had some very impressive guest speakers that have touched our lives and enriched our education.
How will you use what you’ve learned here?
I have already begun to use some of the things I am learning in my practice as an RN. I plan to use yoga therapy to help people with mental illness and chemical dependency issues.
What would you say about MUIH to a prospective student who is interested in attending?
Check it out. Come to the campus and feel the energy! Talk to the students and faculty. Embrace your dreams!
What is the one word that comes to mind when you think of MUIH?
Family
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I feel blessed beyond belief to be a part of the MUIH family.
